Nuevo equipo, nuevo Ubuntu

Cometí la locura: me hice de una Asus G73sw. No lo pensé mucho: i7, pantalla de 17.6in con resolución de 1600x900 (hubiera preferido 1920x1080, pero no había), dos discos duros, 8Gb de ram, expandibles a 16Gb, monitor con tarjeta Geforce GTX 460M con 1.5Gb, blu-ray, etc.

Me gusta el equipo a pesar de su tamaño. Al buscar un maletín para cargarla, me mandaron a equipaje... y aún no lo consigo. Seguiré buscando.

Y le puse 11.10. Le voy a dar la oportunidad a Unity. A ver si satisface mis necesidades. Lo primero es ver si puedo instalar wally, que me gusta mucho.

sudo apt-get install wally

Wally exists in the system tray. However, Ubuntu 11.04 introduced Unity that comes with a new top panel and applications are not allowed to be there by default. You need to enable explications explicitly. If you want to continue using wally, here is what to do:

First, get your current settings for systray-whitelist:

gsettings get com.canonical.Unity.Panel systray-whitelist

Then, add your application to the above list with this command:

gsettings set com.canonical.Unity.Panel systray-whitelist "[ your_previous_list_here, 'wally']"

3. Para agregar los repositorios de Medibuntu

sudo wget --output-document=/etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list http://www.medibuntu.org/sources.list.d/$(lsb_release -cs).list && sudo apt-get --quiet update && sudo apt-get --yes --quiet --allow-unauthenticated install medibuntu-keyring && sudo apt-get --quiet update


y después se actualizan los codecs necesarios

sudo apt-get install w64codecs libdvdcss2 non-free-codecs


 instalar R


instalar algunas utils:

sudo apt-get install dconf-tools gnome-tweak-tool dconf-tools




Para instalar Flash de 64 bits, sigue esta guia

sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager
